Play Along® Offers the Authentic Collectible Dolls for Hairspray Fans

Deerfield Beach, FL–  Play Along®, a division of JAKKS Pacific, Inc. (Nasdaq:JAKK), is introducing the authentic Hairspray fashion dolls at retail this July to coincide with the July 20th theatrical release of New Line Cinema’s highly-anticipated feature film adaptation of the Tony award-winning Broadway production.
 
The highly detailed Hairspray doll collection includes realistic representations of several central characters from the film, including Edna Turnblad (played by John Travolta), Tracy Turnblad (played by newcomer Nikki Blonsky), Penny Pingleton (played by Amanda Bynes), Amber von Tussle (played by Brittany Snow) and Link Larkin (played by tween heartthrob Zac Efron from Disney’s High School Musical). In time for the holidays, the Seaweed J. Stubbs (played by Elijah Kelley) doll will join the line as well.
 
Wearing their signature fashions from key scenes in the film, the detailed dolls stand between 10 ∏ and 12 inches tall. Bringing extra excitement to the line are the Link and Tracy singing dolls, which will play signature songs from the movie’s soundtrack. SRP $14.99 - $24.99

About the Feature Film
Sixteen years after the release of the original film, New Line Cinema is bringing a feature film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of Hairspray to life. Featuring new and original material based on John Waters’ 1988 cult classic about star-struck teenagers on a local Baltimore dance show, the comedy features a remarkable collection of talent including John Travolta, Queen Latifah, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes, Allison Janney, Brittany Snow, Zac Efron, Elijah Kelley, director and choreographer Adam Shankman (Bringing Down The House), and producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Chicago). The new screenplay for Hairspray was written by Leslie Dixon (Freaky Friday, Outrageous Fortune). Hairspray is scheduled for a July 20th, 2007 release.
